How to Choose a Smart Toilet: 8 Questions Before You Buy

Why smart toilet rankings won't answer the main question

Before buying, many people search for “the best smart toilet” or “smart toilet rankings”. That's understandable: you want something proven. But a ranking compares models with each other, not with your bathroom. The most feature-packed toilet won't fit if your drain comes out of the floor and the model drains into the wall, or if your water pressure isn't enough for tankless flushing.

So how to choose a smart toilet is first and foremost a technical question. Start with questions 1–4: they rule out unsuitable models. Then move on to questions 5–7 on features and comfort. And finally — where to buy so you aren't left without service.

Choosing a smart toilet for your bathroom: questions 1–4

1. Wall-hung or floor-standing?

A wall-hung smart toilet mounts on an in-wall frame: the floor beneath it stays clear and is easier to clean. A floor-standing one sits like a regular toilet — you need a water supply and a 220 V outlet nearby. If there's no frame and no renovation is planned, a floor-standing model is the simpler choice. 2. Tank or tankless: what's your water pressure?

Floor-standing models without the letter B — O92, O93, O92F, O93F, O24 — flush through an impulse valve straight from the water supply and need good flow pressure. The test: an empty 5-liter bottle, the supply hose, 15 seconds. If you collect 4.5 liters or more, the flush will work. If less, or if the pressure fluctuates, choose a model with a tank: the floor-standing O92B, O93B or any wall-hung model — they have a built-in 5.3-liter tank. 3. Where does your drain go?

The letter F in a model name means a floor drain outlet: O92F and O93F. Without F, the drain goes into the wall. The versions look identical and can't be told apart in photos, so check the specifications.

4. Is there enough space?

Most models are 588–590 mm deep — about 59 cm instead of the usual 70 cm of a regular toilet. That helps in small bathrooms: the MOMENT series is even described as compact, 58 cm. The floor-standing INERTIA O24 is larger — 680 × 400 × 480 mm. Measure the space with some margin so it's comfortable to sit down and stand up.

Bidet features and comfort: questions 5–7

5. Which wash modes do you need?

Every model has a bidet with a self-cleaning nozzle and UV sterilization. The difference is in the extra modes:

• Feminine wash — a separate mode for delicate hygiene. Available on D93 in all versions, O93, O93B, O93F and O93 with the black panel.
• Hot-and-cold massage (SPA) — on D92, O92, O92B and O92F. The O24 description lists “hot-and-cold SPA”.
• D88, D89 and D91 have neither feminine wash nor massage — only the basic bidet modes. For the D94 modes, see the model page.

Warm water and massage are kinder to the skin than paper. If there are women in your family, take a closer look at models with a feminine wash.

6. How precise does the heating need to be?

Every model has seat heating, on-demand water heating and a warm-air dryer. On D92, D93 and D94 the temperature is set in degrees: water and seat at 34, 37 or 40 °C, dryer at 35, 43 or 52 °C. Other models have 4 levels each. All models are in our selection of heated smart toilets.

7. Voice, sensors and power outages

• All our models have voice control in Russian — 8 commands: water temperature, drying, lid, flush and more. If you're comparing with other stores, ask what language the toilet speaks.
• The proximity sensor detects a person up to 1.5 m away: it raises the lid as you approach and, when you leave, closes it and starts the flush.
• Foot sensor: if the model has one, a wave of your foot opens the lid, lifts the seat ring or starts the flush.
• A battery on D88–D93 series models — up to 50 flushes without power. Useful if the electricity sometimes goes out.
• The Foam Shield, which covers the water in the bowl against splashes and odor, is built into every model except VECTOR D88 — on that one it's external.

Warranty, service and where to buy: question 8

A smart toilet is an appliance with electronics, so it matters not only what you buy but who you buy from. Before buying, find out:
