Smart Toilet from China or from a Store in Russia: Which to Choose

Many people order directly from China or from an overseas seller on a marketplace because of the price. Here is what to check before you pay, and when it is easier to buy a smart toilet from a store in Russia.

Chinese smart toilet: what the choice is really about

A Chinese smart toilet ordered directly from an overseas seller or on a marketplace often attracts buyers with its price. But a smart toilet from China is more than the number on the product page. To be clear from the start: this article does not compare brands or factories. It is about something else — who is responsible for the toilet once it has been delivered.

A smart toilet is not a phone you can put in a box and send off for repair. It is plumbing with electronics: it is connected to the water supply and a 220 V outlet, stays in your bathroom for years, and has a heater, a bidet nozzle, sensors and a dryer inside. So beyond the price, it is worth understanding in advance how you will live with it: who will explain the settings, where to get a spare part and who will replace it if something breaks.

Below are the questions worth asking any seller — whether you order from China, Korea or another country, from a marketplace seller or from a store in Russia. For comparison, we give our own terms.

Voice control and a manual in Russian

A smart toilet is operated from a control panel or a remote, and sometimes by voice. If the panel labels, voice prompts and manual are not in Russian, you will spend the first few weeks figuring things out with a translator, and elderly relatives or children will find it hard to use the toilet without your help.

What to ask the seller: what language the voice control and panel labels use, whether there is a manual in Russian, and whom to contact with setup questions.

All our models have voice control in Russian. The toilet understands 8 commands: you can change the water temperature, turn on the dryer, open the lid, start the flush and so on. You can see how it works in the voice control video. A manager will help with setup questions via Telegram, WhatsApp or MAX.

Warranty and repairs: where to fix a smart toilet from China

The most common question after buying abroad is what to do if the heating, bidet or flush stops working. An overseas seller may also offer a warranty, but what matters is how it works in practice: where to send the toilet or its electronics unit, who pays for shipping and how long you will have to wait.

Before ordering, find out:

  • who carries out warranty repairs and in which city;
  • whether you need to send the toilet or part of it to the seller, and who pays for shipping;
  • whether you can get advice from a technician without taking the toilet apart;
  • whether the repair itself comes with a warranty.

Here is how it works with us. The 1-year warranty covers all models — electronics, ceramics and mechanisms. Warranty repairs are free, spare parts are original, and completed repairs come with a warranty of up to 6 months. In Moscow there is a service center on Arbat Street, and for other regions there is remote service:

  1. You message us on Telegram, WhatsApp or MAX — the service team is available 24/7.
  2. A technician runs a diagnosis over a video call, usually in about 15 minutes.
  3. The part you need ships from our Moscow warehouse via CDEK on the day you contact us, free of charge under warranty.
  4. You replace the part on site with a technician guiding you over video — this usually takes about 20 minutes.

Spare parts and consumables

Even a smart toilet in perfect working order needs consumables: foam for the foam shield, a carbon filter that is replaced every 6–12 months and, every few years, a UV lamp (it is rated for 8,000 hours, which is about 3–4 years). If the toilet was bought abroad, find out in advance where you will get them and how long delivery takes.

For our models, 100% of spare parts are in stock at our Moscow warehouse, and 680 ml foam can be ordered in the accessories section. What to replace and when is covered in our article on foam, filters and consumables.

Delivery of a bulky item and returns

A smart toilet is a heavy and fragile parcel: a ceramic bowl and electronics in one box. The longer the journey, the more often it is reloaded, so before paying, find out how the toilet will be packed, who is responsible for damage in transit and how to inspect it on delivery.

The same goes for returns: sending a large box back abroad is harder than handing it to a courier in your own city. Ask the seller on what terms they accept returns and who pays for return shipping.

Our terms:

  • Moscow and the Moscow Region — our own courier, 1–2 days, free within Moscow.
  • Other regions — transport companies (CDEK, PEK, DPD and others), 3–7 business days, from 1,500 RUB. The CDEK cost is shown at checkout; delivery is to your door or to a pickup point.
  • We ship from our Moscow warehouse on the day of payment.
  • You can return the toilet within 14 days of receipt if it has not been used and its condition and original packaging are intact. Pickup within Moscow is free, and we refund the money within 10 business days after receiving the item.

Smart toilet on a marketplace: look at the seller

A marketplace is a platform, not a seller. On the same platform, a smart toilet may be sold by a store with a warehouse and service in Russia or by an overseas seller shipping from abroad. Their warranty, delivery times and returns can differ a lot, so look not only at the price and reviews but also at who is selling and where the item ships from.

Our models are sold on our website, on Ozon and on Yandex Market. The 1-year warranty applies to all models.

Also check things that do not depend on the seller but do affect installation:

  • whether the plug fits your outlet and the toilet is designed for 220 V mains power;
  • whether the model has a tank. A tankless toilet needs good flow pressure — learn more in our article on the tankless impulse-valve toilet;
  • where the waste pipe exits — into the wall or the floor;
  • whether the model is wall-hung or floor-standing: a wall-hung model needs an in-wall frame.

See and try it in person

When you order from abroad, you choose based on photos and videos. But the size, height, flush sound and how the sensor responds are better seen with your own eyes.

At our showroom in Moscow you can see and try all models: 49 Arbat Street, a 4–5 minute walk from Smolenskaya metro station, daily from 12:00 to 21:00. The service center is in the same place. Phone numbers and messengers are on the contacts page.

If you can't make it in person, watch the model video reviews in the “Videos” section: they show voice control, the automatic lid, the bidet wash and the flush.

Ordering from abroad may suit someone who is ready to deal with setup, delivery and repairs on their own and has got answers from the seller to the questions in this article in advance. If you want to buy a smart toilet once and not worry about where to get it repaired, it is easier to buy it from a store in Russia that has a spare parts warehouse and service.

All models and current prices are in the catalog. What to look for when choosing is covered in our article how to choose a smart toilet.

Tip: before paying, ask the seller to answer three questions in writing — who does warranty repairs, where spare parts come from and how to return the item. If there are no clear answers, that is an answer too.
